'Manager Kim' Episode 5 Ratings at 20.5%...Tension RIIZEs with Minji's Escape and Joo Kang-chan's Vehicle Appearance

The SBS Friday-Saturday drama ″Chief Kim″ continues its successful run by surpassing a 20% viewership rating for two consecutive episodes. According to Nielsen Korea, the rating for episode 5 was 20.5%, following episode 4’s 21.6%, marking the highest level this year among mini-series and all weekly programs. The 2049 demographic rating also rose to a peak of 6.6%.
In episode 5, Chief Kim (played by So Ji-sub) pressured Kim Sang-man (played by Kim Dae-han) to reveal the whereabouts of his daughter Kim Min-ji (played by Seo Soo-min) in order to save her. Kim Sang-man said, ″I only moved her after receiving a call from Joo Kang-chan’s (played by Joo Sang-wook) daughter. She was already dead from the start,″ to which Chief Kim angrily responded, ″If our Min-ji is really dead, then everyone dies from now on.″
Min-ji, who was trapped in a freezer, overpowered Geum Ippal (played by Jo Bok-rae) with a metal pipe, knocked out the subordinate who had regained consciousness, and successfully escaped. Chief Kim arrived at the freezer and mistook the security guard’s corpse for Min-ji, but found a message written on the floor saying, ″Dad, I’m sorry. I’m scared,″ confirming that his daughter was alive. He immediately set out to find Min-ji through the heavy rain.
Min-ji also escaped between containers and sought help. Chief Kim spotted her running on top of a container and called out, ″Min-ji,″ but they lost each other due to the sound of the rain. The plot twist continued when the vehicle Min-ji got into was revealed to be Joo Kang-chan’s car. Joo Kang-chan looked at Min-ji sleeping in the passenger seat and said, ″You actually came in on your own like this.″
Episode 6 depicted the scene where Joo Kang-chan and Kim Min-ji confronted each other. Min-ji pretended not to remember, saying, ″I don’t remember. When I came to my senses, I was in the freezer. So I ran away,″ but Joo Kang-chan said, ″Maybe because you’re still a student, you’re clumsy at hiding your emotions. You’re also clumsy at pretending to have lost your memory and lying. I knew everything. From the moment you got in the car and pretended to be asleep.″ He then said, ″I care for and love our Hyeri very much. I want to cover up all her mistakes. Honestly, it’s not even a big mistake, right?″ as he tried to kill Kim Min-ji.
Meanwhile, Sung Han-soo (played by Choi Dae-hoon) and Park Jin-chul (played by Yoon Kyung-ho) acted as Chief Kim’s allies while moving separately to evade the Special Task Force’s pursuit. Park Kang-sung (played by Kim Sung-kyu) clashed with Chief Kim over Park Young-kwang’s (played by Ok Taec-yeon) death, and Chief Kim conveyed Park Young-kwang’s last words to Park Kang-sung, saying, ″Survive. 66, no, that’s the last message Young-kwang left me.″
Chief Kim asked Jung Sang-ah (played by Son Na-eun) to track Min-ji’s CCTV movements, and Jung Sang-ah and the Special Task Force agents decided to cooperate. Ddanggangaji (played by Won Hyun-joon) realized that Min-ji was Chief Kim’s weakness and ordered, ″We’ll secure her as a hostage first.″
″Chief Kim″ is a 10-episode series that airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 PM.
