BTS RM revealed his thoughts on his role and leadership as a leader.

In a video released on the YouTube channel ’Fashion Neurosis’ on the 22nd, RM met with British fashion designer Bella Freud and shared his experiences as the BTS leader, his leadership philosophy, and his thoughts on reading and art.

Regarding the role of a leader, RM said, ″Imagine everyone is lying on the sofa, but the window is open and the room is cold.″ He added, ″Someone has to close the window, and when no one moves, I think the person who gets up first and takes action is the leader.″ He continued, ″If it’s something that has to be done, I thought it was right for me to do it.″

He also mentioned the changes in his leadership from the early days to now. He explained, ″For the first eight or nine years, I was a strong and somewhat authoritarian leader.″ He added, ″But as the team grew and the members each gained their own names and careers, that approach no longer worked. After that, it shifted toward communication.″ He shared that when the members say, ″We know your efforts. We’re glad to have a leader like you,″ all his stress disappears.

RM grew close to reading in his childhood due to his parents’ influence and named Hermann Hesse’s Demian as a life-changing book. He said, ″Through that book, I first discovered the nature of jealousy within me,″ reflecting on his jealousy toward friends who were popular in class. He added, ″I read this book four or five times,″ and said he was able to naturally encounter the wisdom of the older generation.

Meanwhile, RM debuted as the leader of BTS in 2013 and has led the team to establish themselves as global artists.
