Unanswered Questions Episode 1498 Tracking Unidentified Aircraft at Gimhae Airport Spotlight on the Truth After Two Days

The 1498th episode of SBS’s current affairs and educational program ″Unanswered Questions″ covers the investigation into the identity of an unidentified flying object that caused the closure of Gimhae Airport’s runway.

The broadcast, titled ″Unknown Invasion - 2026 UAP Mystery,″ focuses on the sighting incident at Gimhae Airport on May 19th and examines whether it was a simple misidentification or an unidentified anomalous phenomenon (UAP). A flight that departed from Nagoya, Japan, and was scheduled to arrive at Gimhae Airport around 9:30 PM returned to Incheon Airport just before landing. This resulted in a complete suspension of aircraft takeoffs and landings at Gimhae Airport and the closure of the runway.

As a result, about 150 passengers, without receiving a clear explanation for the diversion, landed at Incheon Airport and then took a bus to arrive in Busan around 6 AM the next day. The usual 1 hour and 30 minutes of travel took about 10 hours.

A source who claimed to have served in a military unit at the airport stated that around 9 PM, they witnessed three green glowing objects above the barracks. The objects reportedly moved in formation, maintaining a consistent distance at about the height of a 10-story apartment building. Another witness testified that an actual situation announcement was made from the military base, and officers and an anti-terrorism team were dispatched. The objects appeared for about two hours before disappearing, and there are claims that traces were left in the military’s internal systems.

Gimhae Airport is located within a no-fly zone for aviation security and hosts an Air Force base, making it sensitive to external flying objects. The Air Force and police conducted a joint search immediately after the report but did not find any suspicious objects. The police concluded the case, determining that the lights in the night sky were mistaken for flying objects.

The production team plans to investigate what was actually captured at Gimhae Airport based on conflicting testimonies and response records from the time. They intend to verify whether the observed lights were misidentified civilian drones or other objects, or if they correspond to unexplained UAPs. The episode will air on the 1st at 11:10 PM.
