Actress Park Han-byul has made her return to the entertainment industry after a seven-year hiatus following her husband’s involvement in the Burning Sun scandal. On the TV Chosun show ″Gourmet Heo Young-man’s Baekban Travels,″ which aired on the 10th, she shared insights into her life during the years spent raising her two sons on Jeju Island. ″It’s been seven years since I’ve lived in Jeju Island. I’m raising my eight-year-old and four-year-old sons,″ she stated. She also mentioned her younger son, who is indifferent to visitors, saying, ″He’s the type to follow anyone who gives him candy.″
Recently, Park Han-byul completed filming the movie ″Karma,″ where she stars alongside Park Ho-san and Park Si-hoo. The film explores the theme of karmic retribution for past misdeeds that can drastically alter a person’s life. In the film, she portrays a producer documenting the lives of crime victims. She humorously noted that all three actors share the surname Park, leading to the nickname ″Three Parks.″
Reflecting on her early days before fame, Park Han-byul recalled being part of the group known as ″Korea’s Top Five Ulzzangs″ alongside Ku Hye-sun and Lee Joo-yeon. ″I was an ordinary student, but I suddenly became famous. Every time I rode the subway, everyone stared at me, and I didn’t know what to do,″ she remembered. She added, ″I never get tired of being told I’m pretty.″ Her career began as a magazine model in high school, followed by appearances in music videos, and her film debut came in the 2003 movie ″Whispering Corridors 3.″
Park Han-byul married Yoo In-seok, the former CEO of Yuri Holdings, in 2017 and they have two sons together. However, her career came to a standstill in 2019 when her husband was implicated in the Burning Sun scandal. Yoo In-seok, along with former Big Bang member Seungri, faced charges for arranging prostitution for foreign investors between 2015 and 2016, resulting in a sentence of one year and eight months in prison, which was suspended for three years.
During the turmoil surrounding her husband’s scandal, Park Han-byul publicly apologized, stating, ″We will take responsibility together.″ She stepped away from the media for nearly six years, concluding her involvement with the drama ″Love in Sadness.″ Recently, she made her comeback on TV Chosun’s ″Dad and Me,″ where she opened up about her struggles, revealing, ″I thought I’d have to die to end it all. Even my mother-in-law told me, ’Get a divorce for your sake.’″
Currently, Park Han-byul operates a café in Jeju and lives with her two sons. Following her return to television, she is poised to make a full-fledged comeback to the big screen with the film ″Karma,″ marking a new chapter in her career.
