ZEROBASEONE began activities with their first mini-album ’Ascend-’ after reorganizing into a five-member group.

This album includes a total of seven tracks: the title song ″TOP5,″ ″Intro.,″ ″V for Vision,″ ″Customize,″ ″Exotic,″ ″Changes,″ and ″Zero to Hundred.″ Notably, ″Customize″ is the first song composed by Park Geon-wook. Park Geon-wook explained, ″When the five of us released our first album, we worked while thinking about how to make it feel genuine,″ adding, ″Customize is a tailored song that allows each member to fully showcase their vocal abilities. I was able to focus on the work because I believed the members would perform the song well.″

ZEROBASEONE debuted in July 2023 through Mnet’s idol audition show ″Boys Planet.″ Recently, four members left, leaving Sung Han-bin, Seok Matthew, Park Geon-wook, Kim Ji-woong, and Kim Tae-rae as the five-member lineup. Regarding the change to a five-member system, the members said that each individual’s presence is more visible on stage. Sung Han-bin said, ″Each person’s presence is more visible on stage.″ Although the members shed tears at their last concert as a nine-member group, they said they were able to return to the stage thanks to the support of their fans. Sung Han-bin said, ″It wasn’t easy, but after long discussions, we aligned our hearts with the members. Above all, the existence of fans waiting for us had a big influence on our decision.″ Kim Tae-rae stated, ″Because the name ZEROBASEONE is precious, and because I thought the members shared the same goals and paths, I decided to continue activities as ZEROBASEONE.″

The members mentioned that learning new formations as a five-member group was not easy. Kim Ji-woong said, ″We tried the five-member version for the first time at ’KCON,’ and I thought, ’Wow, it’s harder than I expected.’ But we leaned on each other and were able to finish the stage beautifully.″ He also shared that recently, while climbing Gayasan with the members, they vowed to ″keep climbing higher.″

The four members who left ZEROBASEONE have started activities as a new group called ″Andable.″ Regarding this, Sung Han-bin said, ″The memories of the nine members do not disappear. I sincerely support those friends,″ and Park Geon-wook said, ″We encourage each other and sometimes eat together.″ Seok Matthew said, ″I still can’t imagine what kind of activities Andable will do. I’m curious how they will bring out each individual’s characteristics.″

Meanwhile, ZEROBASEONE has recorded cumulative sales of 10 million copies with this album, marking the first achievement for a 5th generation K-pop group.
